Kathy Reed is Vice President for Development for WXXI and The Little Theatre and has been with WXXI since May 2003 and oversees all individual fundraising. From pledge drives to major donor initiatives and legacy giving, it all comes together to support the programming we all enjoy. Kathy grew up with WXXI, watching Sesame Street, The Electric Company and ZOOM and is grateful that WXXI played a major role in preparing her daughter for school and life. She takes great pride in helping her hometown public media stations grow. She listens every day to either Classical 91.5 or WRUR 88.5 FM for news and music and watches Masterpiece, American Experience and The PBS NewsHour among many other programs on WXXI-TV and PBS Passport. She is grateful to all members and donors to WXXI for making it all possible! She was part of the team that won the won the PBS Overall Development Award for Excellence in 2006. In her previous position, she was responsible for “special” gifts from individuals for general operating as well as for production funding for all WXXI TV and radio services and capital projects for WXXI and The Little. She also ran the planned giving arm of WXXI, working with people who want to make legacy gifts through their estates. Kathy was the key staff person coordinating all aspects of the “Go Public” Campaign which raised over $18 million . She is responsible the team who raises WXXI's $4 Million + Membership Budget, production funding and special projects for WXXI and The Little Theatre and an average of $1 million annually in realized planned gifts. Kathy was named to the PBS Development Advisory Committee in the fall of 2018 and is currently Vice-Chair. Prior to joining WXXI, Kathy was Assistant Dean and Director of Development at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Buffalo. She has past experience in public broadcasting as a Corporate Support Associate at WNED Buffalo.
